Forward Planning

“Failing to plan is simply just planning to fail.”

From our entry on 15 May 2016 – Where are we going to be playing in three or so years? Here we are … nearly a year later.

Private rental arrangements have risks as NT Squash discovered in 2011. To secure the long term future of badminton we will need to partner with Territory and Federal Governments and possibly private enterprise to build a  a new playing venue before the expiration of our current lease arrangement in 2019.”
We all had the opportunity to have input to both the DSR Sport and Active Recreation Master Plan and the Feasibility Study on our Future Playing Venue Options on our playing future was advertised from 08 March 2016. The final report was tabled to the Minister’s Office in December 2016 and is available to read at this link. It offers options, suggested sites and architectural features of merit for a collocated/collaborative building site.
From our work in the 2013 Save Our Sport Campaign we produced and lodged with the NT Government our detailed concept proposal that ought to be useful material to include in future collaboration and planning initiatives.

Our revised Governance Diagram, SWOT, Strategic Plan and Operational Plan are all part of our Board dealings and together it keeps us `on track’ from 2016 through to 2019. Join us and be part of the solution. We need to be conscious of the core business of the Department of Sport and Recreation so reading their 2015-16 Annual Report should provide us with insights and understanding.

The NTBA has placed a written submission to the `Bring Back the Arafura Games’ Public Consultation on 07 Mar 17 and a copy is provided at this link. An appearance to speak to the main points and answer questions will be made to the committee at 7.30pm on the evening of 07 Mar 17 at the Litchfield Room, Level 3 NT Parliament House. This is open to the public subject to security checks at the foyer.

Our membership is slowly growing. Six courts should just see us through our current lease arrangement.

For any philanthropists out there click here for Badminton Design Guide 2011. We would love to hear from you if you are able to assist with some financial assistance towards `bricks and mortar’.
