The NTBA Inc was awarded a NT Sports Grant to assist with the conduct of coaching clinics for advanced skills and junior players in Alice Springs (Sat 4th and Sun 5th Jul) and Darwin (Mon 6th to Fri 10th Jul). Each session was $10 per player. An After Action Report is now complete pending acceptance and remediation of points raised for action. The full report will be lodged here shortly.
Junior and novice players were given the opportunity to attend parallel sessions that enable them to `Come and See…Give it a Try’ sessions and aspire to those levels.
The clinics used the talents of SA advanced players Stuart Rowlands, Verdet Kessler together with local coaches, Saidina Pawero and Andrew Harvey. Watch this You-Tube excerpt to get an insight of the skills and athleticism demonstrated in a game of mixed doubles played by Stuart and Verdet.

The Darwin Clinics were held at the home venue in Albatross Street, Winnellie and the main sessions ran from 8-11 am Mon -Fri with novice and `Come and See… Come and Try’ sessions from 9-11 am. Evening sessions were conducted from 6.30 – 9.00pm with two courts set aside in concert with DBC bookings. We were able to include a collaborative session with the staff from the NTIS Darwin about athlete and coach development.

Local school PE leaders and the media were invited to attend some `Come and See… Come and Try‘ sessions where the NTBA held a Beginners Junior (Ages 5-10 approx) Holiday Program between July 6-10. These sessions were held at Winnelli between 9-11 am daily. NT State rep Izzy coached these sessions and this event is coinciding with a visit from International Badminton Reps Verdet and Stu.
